Fictional comedy
At the backyard’s smallest theater, one red folding chair takes the stage for a one-seat show. Its opening squeak earns a compliment, its careful bow brings the audience to its feet, and the chair discovers a new specialty: standing ovations.

Four panels, one very proud chair
- Under the marquee “Tonight: One-Seat Show,” a red folding chair welcomes its audience.
- A neighbor applauds: “That opening squeak had real range!”
- The chair folds itself neatly after the show. The neighbor stands and claps as the chair says, “I can feel the room rising!”
- Back upright for its bow, the chair says, “I’ve been working on my standing ovation.”
